| Fisherman's Wharf hotels are a very small percentage of the hotels in San Francisco and there are a couple of things that you must know before booking one of them.
1. Summers are BUSY! If you are looking at coming in the summertime remember to book early, as the hotels are usually sold out and you will be left out of the fun. 2. Travel off season. Though not as crowded, the hotels are almost vacant during the fall and winter, so great rates and no tourists await. |
| One you arrive at your Fisherman's Wharf hotel, you are in for a good time. Your first stop should be Jefferson street, with it's crab pots, funky shops and interesting people. The clam chowder in a bread bowl is a winner (my favorite place has closed), as is the fresh steamed Dungeness crabs. In need of some live music, head on over to Lou's. Good food and a great time await. Gary Danko's is a great place for that special dinner (its $$$) or the International Sports Club @ 1000 Columbus (@ Taylor) for a cold beer at the Wharf's favorite local dive bar if you are looking at fleeing the tourists. If you love the tourist feel then Jack's Cannery bar is for you. Loads of great (and not so great) beer and plenty of tourists make this the place to be seen.
The hotels in and around Fishernam's Wharf offer comfortable accommondations, a great location to all of the city, and views of the bay that many only dream of. Forgotten by most locals, Fisherman's Wharf is the city's playground and should be experienced on any trip to the bay area. |
